Complaints

Complaints and corrections

We try to get everything right, and when we don't, we want to know. If something we've published, broadcast or filmed is inaccurate, unfair or intrudes on someone's privacy, tell us and we'll look into it.

How to complain

Phone

Put this in your message

  • A link to the article, or the show or video and when it went out
  • What you think is wrong, and what you think is right
  • Any evidence that helps us check
  • How we can reach you

What happens next

  1. We confirm we've got it

We'll reply to let you know your complaint has reached the right editor.

  2. An editor looks into it

They check the piece against the facts and speak to the people who made it. They may ask you for more detail.

  3. We tell you what we've decided

If we got something wrong, we'll correct it and tell you what we've changed. If we don't agree, we'll explain why.

Corrections

When we correct an article, we change the text and add a dated note at the foot of it saying what was wrong. We don't quietly edit mistakes away.

Reader comments

We don't check reader comments before they appear. If you see a comment that's offensive or illegal, email us a link to it and we'll deal with it.

Not happy with our answer?

If you're not happy with our answer, reply to it and ask for the complaint to be reviewed. A senior editor who wasn't involved will look at it again.
